AI detection · IP licensing

The licensing engine for IP owners

Trace runs detection models across advertising inventory to find your intellectual property in commercial use nobody licensed, preserves the evidence, and turns each use into a paid licence, not a takedown.

See where a recording is already being used

Search an artist, pick a track. Trace resolves its ISRC, finds the TikTok sounds built from that exact recording, and counts the videos behind each one. This runs against the real sources when you click it.

      The problem

Chasing infringement costs more than it recovers

Which is why almost nobody does it, and why brands keep using work they never licensed.

      Use cases

One engine, every kind of rights holder

The enforcement work is the same whatever the asset: find the commercial use, prove it, price it, collect. What changes is how we detect it.

      Recorded music

Acoustic fingerprinting across advertising inventory. Catches the forms that defeat manual searching: partial use, edits, pitch shifts and re-encodes.

      How it works

Detection to payment, without a legal department

      Index your rights once

Every asset gets a signature we can match against. For audio that is an acoustic fingerprint that survives compression, pitch shifts, edits and background dialogue, and your masters never have to leave your control.

      • Matches partial and edited use
      • Survives re-encoding and speed changes

      Watch commercial use, not consumption

Chasing individual consumer uploads recovers fractions of a cent. Commercial use by a brand carries a real licence fee. We scan where brands actually run campaigns, and we keep watching after the campaign ends.

Turn the use into a licence

Outreach is drafted, sent and followed up automatically, with a lawyer in the loop where it matters. The brand's easiest path is to license retroactively, so most of them do.

Run the check on your own tracks

This one is live, not a screenshot. Put in a few recordings and Trace queries the public metadata registry for each one, then reports whether the rights are in a state to be claimed at all. No signup, nothing stored against your name.

Registration checks only. Acoustic detection is not part of this, so a track can come back clean here and still be in use somewhere unlicensed.

      Technology

Fingerprinting that runs at the edge

Acoustic fingerprinting has always been a server cost: decode the audio, extract the signature, hold an index in memory. That cost is why continuous monitoring was only ever sold to platforms, never to the people who own the rights. We compiled the decoder and the extractor to WebAssembly and run them inside edge workers.

The matching model is trained on the transformations real campaigns apply, so a use is scored instead of guessed at. Every match carries a confidence figure, and that figure decides who sees it next. The model is deliberately kept on the detection side of the work.

      What the model decides

      Automated
      • Whether a segment matches a signature in your index
      • How much of the work was used, and for how long
      • Which platforms and territories the use ran in
      • A confidence figure, which routes the claim

      What it never decides

      Human in the loop
      • Whether the use was genuinely unlicensed
      • What the retroactive licence is worth
      • How the demand is written, and to whom
      • Whether a refusal becomes an escalation

      FAQ

      Frequently asked questions

      What does the audit cost?

Nothing. You send a portfolio export, we return the findings. If there is nothing worth pursuing we will tell you. That is a useful answer, and it costs you nothing to get it.

      How do you get paid?

From what we recover. If a use never converts into a licence, you owe nothing for it. That keeps our incentives pointed at claims worth pursuing rather than volume.

Do you take my music down?

Only if you ask. A takedown ends the infringement and earns nothing. Our default is to convert the brand into a paying licensee, retroactively.

Do I have to hand over my originals?

No. For audio we need fingerprints, not the recording. Fingerprints are one-way signatures: the original cannot be reconstructed from them.

Which kinds of IP do you cover?

The enforcement work (evidence, valuation, demand, settlement) applies to any commercially exploited right. Automated detection is live for audio today; film, brand marks and likeness are handled as claims work while detection expands to cover them.

      What if the brand refuses?

Most settle, because a retroactive licence is cheaper and quieter than the alternative. When one does not, the evidence package is already built for escalation and we work with counsel from there.
